Manufacturing Applications

Forklifts, trucks, manufacturing tools and equipment and cleaning floors... These are the typical pressure washer jobs that come to mind in a manufacturing facility. However hot pressure washers are also used in the manufacturing process. Raw steel arrives with a coating of protective oil that protects against corrosion. This oil must be removed before welding and painting the product. Viking Industrial Systems provides a high alkaline degreaser / cleaner for this process. The degreaser, called Bad Axe, is sprayed on the steel.

Bad Axe is fast acting so the dwell time is just seconds before you see the oil emulsified and running off the steel. A hot pressure washer then is used to finish the cleaning and rinsing cycle. Many of our customers use our KO-219 phosphatizer to etch the steel prior to painting. Phosphatizer builds a thin layer of iron ions on the metal. This allows the paint to flow better and stick better. The net result is a higher quality paint job.

The ideal machine is a stationary natural gas fired hot pressure washer like Hydro Tek model HN30005E3C with 4.8 gallons per minute and 3,000 psi. Good cleaning is all about heat. Most of our Hydro Tek pressure washers are also pressure steamers with temperatures as high as 250ْْْ F. With a stationary pressure washer you never have to carry diesel to the pressure washer again. Plus there is a little to no chance of freeze damage to the machine. Hydro Tek builds several models in their HN stationary pressure washer series.

Many configurations of hot pressure washers are used in manufacturing such as Hydro Tek’s HDHP, and SS series machines.
